The goal is to establish an ACTIVE American culture - a culture where healthy lifestyles are supported, embraced and easily accessible by all.

Texas Book Festival Founded in 1995 by Laura Bush, the Texas Book Festival is a free literary festival held annually at the Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas. The Festival, widely considered one of the nation's top book festivals, brings nearly 200 prominent and upcoming authors together with the people who love reading their books. Funds raised at the Festival and through our generous sponsors are used to produce this event, as well as support Texas Public Libraries. Since its inception in 1996, the Festival has donated more than $2.3 million to support public libraries in Texas. |

KIPP: Austin Public Schools KIPP Austin Public Schools is a network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools that empowers a new generation to transform their futures and make a difference in their world. All three schools provide academically rigorous programs where students successfully climb the mountain to college.

Austin Speech Labs Austin Speech Labs is a local non-profit dedicated to impriving quality of life for stroke survivors and their caregivers. They provide intensive speech, language and cognitive therapy. |

The Galveston Island Humane Society The Galveston Island Humane Society is solely dedicated to the cause and welfare of unwanted or homeless animals. The GIHS provides a temporary refuge for animals, arranges placement in responsible homes, and provides community education toward the prevention of cruelty to animals.

The Jesse Tree The Jesse Tree is a faith-based nonprofit organization that connects people with medical care, social services and ministerial resources the need to rebuild their lives and uplift their spirits. |

Reading Rock Stars - Texas Book Festival Reading Rock Stars, an outreach program of the Texas Book Festival, has been serving children in Title 1 (economically disadvantaged) Texas schools since 1999. The program strives to cultivate interest and skills in reading and writing by bringing childrens authors to economically disadvantaged Texas schools. Since its inception, the Reading Rock Stars program has provided more than 100 author visits and given away over 25,000 new books to children in need. |
Shanti Bhavan School - Artist Striving To End Poverty Project Shanti Bhavan was launched in August 1997 to provide educational opportunities and support to children from the poorest families and orphans in the Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka areas of Southern India. It is an original project of The George Foundation that targets children from the "untouchable" caste. |
